To the Mountains

Kyrgyzstan is famed for its mountains, which cover 94 percent of the country and boast the highest peaks in Central Asia. We were eager to spend some time in nature, so we happily accepted our friend Bakyt's invitation one warmish weekend in September to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery. With our two boys and Bakyt's little niece in tow, we headed out to Ala Archa, a national park about 40 minutes away, to walk, talk, and picnic.

The kids loved playing by the river.

The yurts offered food and hot tea.

Bakyt, Josh, and the kids - and a beautiful view.
