Weekends in the Park

We have recently found another park that we really enjoy. Finding new places is always a hassle the first time, but once we have conquered the feat of locating it, it's easy to return. This park is in the King Abdul Aziz National Center right next to the National Museum. We haven't actually made it inside the museum yet, but it's on our list. So far, we've been to this park twice and we look forward to going back, especially as it warms up.

There are lots of places to walk, climb, and play.

Climbing with Daddy.

Misha is drawn to anything he can climb on. He's a natural.

Misha races through the park!

Arms up!

One of the coolest features of this park is its shallow water play area, which includes a hand-pulled raft, a type of water pump, and a bridge beneath a waterfall.

Misha was eager to join the kids on the raft. They use the rope to tow themselves across.

A picturesque shot by the waterfall.

Sebby and I stand behind the cascade.

Josh and our Syrian friend Bashar brave the water drops.

This "artistic river" winds its way from the water play area down past the museum itself. Colored stepping stones and bridges encourage kids to play in it. I'm sure this will be a wonderful spot for kids in the hot summer days.

The winding river.

The National Museum.

A kiss for Daddy.

Hanging out in the park.

Leading to a plaza is a corridor of recreated mud buildings. creating the feel of glimpsing Saudi Arabia's past. The kids playing soccer in the courtyard add to the charm.

Back in time: at the end of the pedestrian corridor, a black-clad figure sweeps by.

Sebby attracted the attention of several little girls who wanted to pose for pictures with him.
